Now retired, Ian was previously the Founder and Managing Director of Megabyte Computer Services; the Director of Global Accounts of a major blue chip corporation; and a Business Strategy and Marketing Consultant to various International companies. Originally from the UK, where he learned to play bridge (ACOL), in South Africa his past bridge administration roles include committee member of CTWBC; secretary and committee member of the WCBU; and Chairperson of the Hermanus Duplicate Bridge Club (HDBC).

From 2021 to 2024 he was the secretary of the WCBU and editor of their monthly newsletter read by thousands of bridge players.
